Support » Plugin: Scroll to Anchor » Creating URL links

  • Hi

Im creating a menu in wordpress. A lot of the menu items need to be anchors of different sections of a page.

    How do I do this?

What Ive done is create custom URL’s but that hasnt worked. How can I create a custom URL to point the anchors that I am using with your profile shortcode. I already placed the anchors down, I just need to know how to create links to find them from the menu.

    Thank you!!

In Appearance > Menu you can create custom menus which you either assign to predefined menu locations or use in a menu widget. Custom menus can either have menu items that link to your own content or external URLs. Let’s assume you have a page called “About us”, the link to your page might look like http://yourdomain.com/about-us.

If you use the plugin Scroll to Anchor and edit your About us page, you can add anchors by setting the cursor to the desired position, then you click the anchor icon and give the anchor a name in the following modal window.

Let’s assume now, you added three anchors and called them “one”, “two” and “three” (naming is absolutely free, just trying to provide an easy example here). After you updated your page or post, you switch back to Appearance > Menu, add a new link for the page “About us”, click the little triangle in the link button and edit the link so that it looks like http://yourdomain.com/about-us#one. Repeat this for the two other anchors. The hashtag indicates an anchor, followed by its name. Don’t forget to save your menu snd you should be done. Good luck!
