Support » Theme: Custom Community » Creating two different blog boxes on homepage

  • I’m new to WP and building websites and am using the Custom Community theme.
What I’d like to have on my home page is two seperate blog fields. One blog that I’ll post to several times a weekly. Above this I’d like a second blog/post area where I can post a ‘Tip of the month’ that will be archived in the sidebar just as with the other blog.
I am currently building this site offline on a localhost.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • hi robertsc2001,

1.) create a page and set it as your homepage in general -> reading..

2.) then create a new CATEGORY, call it “featured”.

3.) create some new posts, your tips of the week (just for testing first)

4.) go to your newly created page that is set as your homepage.
in the content area you can use a shortcode to display posts of the category “featured”, with a defined layout and amount.

    [cc_list_posts category_name="featured" amount="3" img_position="mouse_over"]

** not sure right now if the shortcode fully works in the free version, please try..

then, for the second blog option:
scroll down until you see a box with “Custom Community” Settings..

there, you can enable to list posts below that page and also setup amount, category and so on..

    hope that helps, konrad
