Creating Specific User Pages (8 posts)

Just wondering I'm doing a little research for a friend - I'm trying to set up a site where each user has a specific user area where content will be updated in the backend and will be available for each specific user on the front end seamlessly.

Sort of like having a dashboard in the front end for each user.

Any help... or plugin suggestions would be fantastic!

What kind of content do you want to have updated ?
Will 1 entry/conetnt field be enough ? Because then a page would be sufficient.

It will have to be a page I think. It needs to display information from their user account + then some.

So do I just start developing it as a page?

I don't quite get what the goal is yet, but you could create a specific page template to use or a custom post type.

  5. What you could do is create a page and password protect these. Then you could give the page url and password to that specific user.

It's not perfect and wouldn't work if you have hundreds of users, but it could work for a simple site.

maybe if you explain a bit more what you want to do exactly we might be able to help a bit more.

It's all a little confusing and we're at the early moments.

In a round about way: A user signs up to this site, fills out a gravity form and then a user area is generated from that.

A user can then update information along the way in their specific user area.

What I did think about doing is creating a user page for each user, but once they sign up... I need there to be a user area straight away, instead of myself setting up a page as soon as possible....

I think that's the best way to say it. Does it make it a little clearer?

A little, I think you might be best of looking into a plugin which creates this all for you.

I don't have a lot of experience with user environments, but I have worked with 'Theme My Plugin' in the past. Might be worth looking into.
