    Hello Tobias,

I’d like to create a table with different sections. The table I want to create has too much data to record each section on one line, so I thought of sectioning it off, using colour to separate the sections.

I’ve looked through the add-ons but I couldn’t find what I was looking for (though I found another useful add-on ‘Fixed columns’ which I bought because it may help squeeze in more data).

It might be easier to explain what I mean by example. I’ve placed an Excel sheet in my Dropbox which can be accessed with the link below:

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

    Hi,

thanks for your question, and sorry for the trouble.

If I’m understanding this correctly, the easiest way for this would be to simply set desired background colors for the different section, e.g. with the “Custom CSS” from https://tablepress.org/faq/change-background-color-of-a-row/

This would however be rather inflexible and you might have to adjust the code quite often, depending on how often the structure of the table changes. A slightly extended approach would therefore be to highlight the row automatically, based on some keyword (section-1 or section-2 or similar) that you add e.g. in an extra, but hidden, column. For an example and a link to an Extension for that, please see https://wordpress.org/support/topic/highlight-a-row-based-on-value?replies=16

    Regards,
    Tobias
