Support » Fixing WordPress » Creating or modifying a custom URL structure that appears to be coded

  • I recently inehreted a WP site that uses the following URL structure for Portfolio items:

    Domain.com/slug/Title-Goes-Here

I’m looking for a way to get rid of “slug” in the URL.

I think my first problem is that I don’t understand what’s triggering Portfolio in the Dashboard menu to begin with. I disabled all of the plugins to see what happens, it’s still there. Perhaps the first thing that needs to be rooted out is what aspect of the code is generating the “portfolio” layouts.

    Where would I begin here?

One thing that I will point out is that in Post Settings\Permalinks, selected is “Post Name” for the URL structure and I cannot change this. I can click the button for another structure, but I cannot commit the change. I’m not sure if that’s relevant.

Let me know what I need to root out first.
