Creating or editing a post white overlay

I have noticed recently that when I go to create a new post, or edit a post the page seems to have a white overlay on the page. When I click into some text or picture that becomes the active part of the page but the rest of the page has the white overlay. Is this a new feature or is there something wrong with my installation? I have been using WordPress CMS since 2016 and never had this issue before.
