• I just downloaded version 3.8 and can’t seem to navigate to create new posts. I would prefer to view the posts in “view” format instead of HTML. Is that still possible? I also insert recipes via Easy Recipe, and no longer see the button to insert the recipe into my post.

Help Please!! My Christmas menu is on hold from posting until I figure out this new issue.

  • Sounds like you probably have a plugin conflict. The trick here is do deactivate all the plugins on the site. Then retest and see if you can make a new post. If you can, then it is definitely a plugin issue.

Then, you reactivate the plugins, one at a time, and test each one by itself or in pairs. I tend to do it two at a time and work my way down the list. Checking each time of you can get the posts page to load.

If you still can’t load the posts page with all the plugins turned off, then the conflict might be with the theme, but since I see that you are using one of the themes made by Automattic, that probably is not the case.

I did notice by looking at the source code, that you are also using the NextGen gallery plugin, I’ve found that one to be problematic recently with one of my clients and ended up having to move them off of it.

Run those tests and come back and share what you’ve found out.

I tried to deactivate and reactivate and am not having any luck. Most importantly… how do I view my post writing in the “View” mode instead of HTML mode. I am definitely not the most tech-savy, so I would much prefer to see everything in the view mode. I can’t figure out how to change sizes of pictures or link anything with the HTML version.

I’ll keep trying with Easy Recipe!

First, check under your user profile to see if the Visual Editor has been disabled there.

If not, you need to deactivate ALL plugins and leave them off until you get this sorted. Also be sure you have cleared any caching on your site and browser.

If that doesn’t change, it leave the plugins off and switch to a default theme (twentythirteen). See if that works.

Yes, the setting in your user profile is was most likely changed somehow. If the visual editor has not been disabled there (you will find it in your dashboard at Users -> Your Profile) then you have a conflict with one of your plugins or the theme which you need to test through.
