Creating Multiple Blogs on my website (4 posts)

I just launched my first weblog using the WordPress script. I love it and i'm really enjoying it.

However, my programming knowledge is very basic so I have the following questions:

    1) Can I set up multiple blogs for different authors on one website?
    2) In case this is possible, does everyone have to use the same theme that I use for my blog or they can choose different ones?
    3) I want to be able to create subdomains for each blog, for example: http://johnsmith.mydomain.com or http://maryjoe.mydomain.com - How can I accomplish this?

    Thank you in advance,

    S. Gill

This link may help get you started:

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_Multiple_Blogs

I know it is possible to install multiple instances of WP at one domain and have them all function independently. Each user could easily have his/her own copy of WP in a unique subdirectory/subdomain named whatever. Each user would then be able to customize anything for their blog, but getting them all to function smoothly as a single, integrated blog may prove time-consuming. Anyway, check out that link and then maybe try searching for more clues.

    Or try http://mu.wordpress.org/

From the site, it says: "Using WordPress Multi-user edition you will be able to people be able to sign up for a new blog and have them securely manage their templates and settings without affecting any other users. Only one blog per user is allowed, but you can have unlimited users, and you can have multiple users on a single blog."
