Creating .htaccess makes Internal Server Error

  • Hi. Im having problems with my permalinks because the script can’t update .htaccess. Whenever I create one and chmod it to the correct permissions, I get an Internal Server error. Actually, the script never generated any .htaccess file and I downloaded a copy of wordpress and there’s no .htaccess in that either.

I also followed the steps here http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks and they didnt work.

Does anyone know what to do? I cant do anything with my site until I get the links working correctly.

I would GREATLY appreciate if someone answered my question this time, thank you.

Talk to your host and ask them why your .htaccess file is causing an internal server error. Only they can correct this issue.
