creating gravatar profile and image in mingle

  • Hi:
We are building a WP site using Mingle for a research study. We need to constrain avatars to a set we approve — probably cartoon like images.
I think we should be able to capture a URL. The mingle code to display avatars will be fine, but we need to understand where and how mingle creates a Gravatar profile. How that is done is not quite clear on the Gravatar API pages. I think uploading the URL of the image or the image itself appears to be well documented. What I can’t find is how to create the profile itself, which obviously mingle is doing. If I can find where that is, we can add the code that will map in the URL of a selected image rather than one uploaded from the users PC.
Thanks in advance for any advice you may be able to provide.
