[resolved] Creating Email and URL links using Custom Attributes (2 posts)

    Hello there,

    I've tried a few different methods seen on boards here a few days ago but the html code I put in didn't load the email address or URL. I inserted 'click here' instead and it worked, sort of.

    Then I realized that I needed to find a way to hide custom attribute fields that did not have data in them because having a 'click here' link that goes nowhere is confusing to a user.

    I attempted to go the more complicated route by adding conditional placeholders for my custom attributes by following the tutorial provided/created by the plugin's authors. Then I decided to use the alternate text method to display a 'n/a' if no data was entered into a field to simplify things. As well as help maintain a standard layout for user submitted events.

    NOW - I'd like to resolve making fields that have an email address or a url in them load the text that has been entered when it has been entered and display the alternate text of {n/a} when there is nothing to display/show.

    If anyone knows how to do this I'd appreciate the direction. Here is what I'm working with now:

    <strong>Event Details</strong><br />
    Open To The Public - #_ATT{Open To The Public?}{Yes|No|}<br />
    Coordinator Name - #_ATT{Coordinator Name}{ Coordinator Name:  {n/a}<br />
    Event Phone:  #_ATT{Event Phone}{n/a}<br />
    Event Email:   #_ATT{Event Email}{n/a}<br />
    Event Registration URL:  #_ATT{Event Registration URL}{n/a}

    Thanks for the help.

    I think the only way to do that would be to use some custom PHP code to check the value of the custom attribute before displaying on the page.

    In terms of the mechanics, custom attributes work in the same way as custom fields. This means you can use get_post_meta to retrieve and display them.

    This link should help:
