I am trying to create a website using wordpress and am finding it it really tough working out how to create a landing page (minus the blogs etc) thant i fill with just my own content. I have recieved advice on how to do it regarding older versions of wordpress (go to settings, change default page etc) - but this advice is not compatibale with the latest version of wp that I have.

Also is there a 'one tick' option to remove all blogging from the site for people who would like to use it as a website builder.

    Any tips very gratefully recieved.

You are trying to create a 'static' frontpage. You can do this by going to Settings > Reading. You will see the two radio buttons to choose from. Follow this:

Essentially, you can ignore the "posts" features entirely. Just use/make "pages".

Nothing has changed with the settings you are mentioning. Goto Settings -> Reading, and mark 'A static page', and select the home page to be your actual home page you had to previously create.

There is no 'one-tick' option, as you will find it will later hinder your site more than anything. Why not keep the expandability in the CMS? Many companies will use pages for their website, but then add post functionality when they have additional news to display.
