    Hi David, I hope you are doing well. Here I am, on this same topic, some years latter….

    This time, following all the instructions from my previous post and avoid my mistakes. So here is what I have:

    1.) I do have a couple of images with att-tags = shoot1

    2.) This is my Custom [mla_gallery] Style Template called ptp-post:

    <style type='text/css'>
    	#[+selector+] {
    		margin: auto;
    		width: 100%;
    	}
    	#[+selector+] .gallery-item {
    		float: [+float+];
    		margin: [+margin+];
    		text-align: left;
    		width: [+itemwidth+];
    	}
    	#[+selector+] .gallery-item .gallery-icon img {
    		border: 2px solid #cfcfcf;
    	}
    	#[+selector+] .gallery-caption {
    		margin-left: 0;
    		vertical-align: top;
    	}
    	#[+selector+] .gallery-description {
    		text-align: left;
    		display: block;
    		margin: 9px 0 5px;
    		padding: 0 5%;
    		font-size: 10px;
    		line-height: 1.2;
    		text-transform: uppercase;
    		text-alignment: left
    	}
    	/* see mla_gallery_shortcode() in media-library-assistant/includes/class-mla-shortcodes.php */
    </style>

    3.) This is my Custom [mla-galery] Markup Template called ptp-post

    This time I did include all the five sections:

    Open:

    <div id='[+selector+]' class='gallery galleryid-[+id+] gallery-columns-[+columns+] gallery-size-[+size_class+]'>

    Row Open:

    <!-- row-open -->

    Item:

    <[+itemtag+] class='gallery-item [+last_in_row+]'>
    	<[+icontag+] class='gallery-icon [+orientation+]'>
    		[+link+]
    	</[+icontag+]>
    	[+captiontag_content+]
    	<div class="gallery-description">[+description+]</div>
    </[+itemtag+]>

    Row Close:

    <br style="clear: both" />

    Close:

    </div>

    And finally this the shortcode I am using in a post:

    [mla_gallery tag=shoot1 size=full columns=1 mla_markup=ptp-post mla_style=ptp-post]

    Please, check this live url:

    http://www.cabudio.com.br/diversos/mla-post-test-shoot1/

    Something is being generated, because I can see the next and previous arrow, but I can´t see any part of the images….

    I´ve tried in Twenty Fourteen theme and nothing came out, I am using Fotography Lite Theme.

    Regards,

    Hold on…

    I´ve just created a regular post with a bunch of images (not using MLA) and I am getting the same result….

    Regular Image Post

    I will update this, when I get a regular post with images to show….

    Thread Starter paulo.tebet

    (@paulotebet)

    I am now being able to post with image normally as can be seen at

    Post with Images

    But still can get the MLA shortcode to produce any images in the post.

    [mla_gallery tag=shoot1 size=full columns=1 mla_markup=ptp-post mla_style=ptp-post]

    The MLA shortcode above links to the page using it.

    Any ideas?

    Regards,

    Good to hear from you again, and thanks for your posts with all the details about your issue.

    In your first post you wrote “I do have a couple of images with att-tags = shoot1“, but your shortcode contains tag=shoot1. I checked your site and found that shoot1 does not exist in the “tags” taxonomy, but it does exist in the “attachment_tags” taxonomy.

    Try changing your shortcode to:

    [mla_gallery attachment_tag=shoot1 size=full columns=1 mla_markup=ptp-post mla_style=ptp-post]

    I am marking this topic resolved, but please update it if the above suggestion does not solve your problem.

    Hi David, thanks a lot for the answer. My bad!!

    Now the gallery is working and generating the images with the captions and descriptions, http://www.cabudio.com.br/diversos/mla-post-test-shoot1/ but I am facing a new issue:

    1-) Neither Caption or Description is being “word wrapping”. They are all in one single line

    2-) Caption is too far from the image.

    3-) Description is too far from the Caption

    4-) How can I control the fonts used by Caption and Description? I am using Google Fonts for the copy on my theme. Can I use them with MLA ?

    Regards,

    Paulo

    Now I am only getting the description. The caption has gone!

    Paulo,

    Thanks for your patience in awaiting my response. I am traveling and don’t have access to my usual system.

    I had a look at the HTML source for the page you posted a link to (thanks). I see that you’re using custom style and markup templates.

    As you have probably discovered, you can use custom templates to change any part of the gallery display. Without seeing the template source code it is not possible to say what is causing the issues you’re having, but they come from the HTML and CSS styles you are using in the template or in your theme, not from MLA itself. I also see a reference to “prettyPhoto” which I assume is a lightbox plugin or something similar. Often these plugins alter the HTML content of image tags to suit their own needs.

    If you can post your template source I will have a look.

    Hi David, thanks for answering.

    Maybe we can go a different route. From my research it looks like mla can generate just a list of IDs that can be used by WordPress regular [gallery] shortcode.

    If this is the case, how can I get a sorted IDs, based on the real image filename?

    Somehow, my images IDs don´t reflect the timestamp of my images creation, but my filenames does.

    My images names are like :

    pt-2016-07-09-17-47-38-SUD-Festa-Julina-Vila-Sonia

    Where the bold part is yyyy-mm-dd-hh-mm-ss so if I could get a list of IDs, sorted by my real filenames, I could pass this to my gallery code.

    [gallery columns="4" ids="1712,1713,1714,1715,1716,1717,1718,1719,1720,1721,1722,1723,1724,1725,1726,1727,1728,1729,1730,1731,1732,1733,1734,1735,1736,1737,1738,1739,1740,1741,1742,1743,1744,1745,1746,1747,1748,1749,1750,1751,1752,1753,1754,1755,1756,1757,1758,1759,1760,1761,1762,1763,1764,1765,1766,1767,1768,1769,1770,1771,1772,1773,1774,1775,1776,1777,1778,1779,1780,1781,1782,1783,1784,1785,1786,1787,1788,1789,1790,1791,1792,1793,1794,1795,1796,1797,1798,1799,1800,1801,1802,1803,1804,1805,1806,1807,1808,1809,1810,1811,1812,1813,1814,1815,1816,1817,1818,1819,1820,1821,1822,1823,1824,1825,1826,1827,1828,1829,1830,1831,1832,1833,1834,1835,1836,1837,1838,1839,1840,1841,1842,1843,1844,1845,1846,1847,1848,1849,1850,1851,1852,1853,1854,1855,1856,1857,1858,1859,1860,1861,1862,1863,1864,1865,1866,1867,1868,1869,1870,1871,1872,1873,1874,1875,1876,1877,1878,1879,1880,1881,1882,1883,1884,1885,1886,1887,1888,1889,1890,1891,1892,1893,1894,1895,1896,1897,1898,1899,1900,1901,1902,1903,1904,1905,1906,1907,1908,1909,1910,1911,1912,1913,1914,1915,1916,1917,1918,1919,1920,1921,1922,1923,1924,1925,1926,1927,1928,1929,1930,1931,1932,1933,1934,1935,1936,1937,1938,1939,1940,1941,1942,1943,1944,1945,1946,1947,1948,1949,1950,1951,1952,1953"]

    Even though I managed to get all my IDs in ascending order the result of the images weren´t chronological….

    How can I accomplish this? Can it be done?

    Regards.

    Plugin Author David Lingren

    (@dglingren)

    Thanks for the update and for the investigation work you’ve done.

    As you discovered, the mla_alt_shortcode parameter lets you use MLA for selecting the items in your gallery and then hand off control to [gallery] or another shortcode to format and display the results.

    You have also discovered that the ID values simply reflect the order in which the images are uploaded, not anything about when they were taken. There are often other ways to recover the “date taken” from IPTC or EXIF metadata in the image files. In your case the file name can also be used. In any case the first step is to create a WordPress custom field that contains the date information. Once that’s done you can build a query and/or sort order based on the custom field value.

    You can add a rule to the Settings/Media Library Assistant Custom Fields tab to map the file name or a metadata field to a custom field. It’s worth a try to get a “real” date value in the field before resorting to the file name; would that be of interest? Are the images in your example page typical; can I look at them to see what metadata is available?

    Let me know how you’d like to proceed.

    Thread Starter paulo.tebet

    (@paulotebet)

    Thanks a lot David.

    I would love to be able to have the real date and time the picture was taken so I can order them by this value. You can take a look at this post where I manually change all the IDs (thanks to MLA I could sort them in Library based on the filename) to get them properly displayed.

    You can inspect them to see the metadata available. If you need something else, please just let me know.

    Regards,

    Plugin Author David Lingren

    (@dglingren)

    Thanks for the update and or your patience while I was traveling. I had a look at the post you linked to but all the image links are broken. Perhaps you are working on the site.

    Let me know when the images become available and I will investigate your images for metadata. Thanks!
