Creating a “more…” link using Optional Excerpt

    Hey bloggers,
    After turning my content into excerpts by replacing the_content() with the_excerpt() in my index.php file, I need to know something else.

    Without the use of another plugin, how do I create the “more…”(or whatever phrase I desire) link at the end of my excerpts?

    Thanks for listening.

  • The “more” and the_excerpts are not related to each other, and using the_excerpt tag annihilates the “more”.
    Basically, you can not do what you want – without a plugin.

    You mean the link at the end of each excerpt that leads to the full post? Just put
    <a href="<?php the_permalink(); ?>"><?php the_title(); ?></a> after the_excerpt().

    “><?php the_title(); ?> after the_excerpt().

    Could not have given any better instructions than that.
    Thanks a bunch.

    how do make the link something like “read entire post” rather than the title?

    <a href="<?php the_permalink(); ?>">whatever-you-want-here</a>
