Install WordPress in a subdirectory…

This is how I’ve built all my WordPress installs and doing that will make it a very nice installation no matter what your goals are.
Thank you for coming back to me @jnashhawkins So I would need to install multisite and then install WordPress to a subdirectory?

No, I’d just install a separate WordPress in the subdirectory unless I needed the multisite (I’m a big fan of multisite). A multisite can do the job though… You won’t need the second install of WordPress with multisite.
You can also do it through categories and a separate blog page but that’s a bit involved especially since you said you wanted a different theme. I’m thinking two WordPress installs are the best way.

So could I do that multiple times? I need to create 3 microsite within one existing WordPress website.
As long as your webhost can handle that but with three subsites it might be better to go with the multisite.
What I’d probably do here is to go with my original suggestion of the one main site and a microsite in the subdirectory then the next and finally that third one.
After a while, you might consider the multisite and the migration of the three sub or microsites into the first…
You’ll want to ask for some instructions when you find yourself ready for that.
