Creating a login/private section for a custom theme? (1 post)

    hi there,
i know there are scripts out there that do this, however there are some specific things i'd like to do, as well as specific issues in regards to the custom theme i'm using.
    here's my site: jasonkoning.com
it's a combination of blog and portfolio basically.
when a new portfolio item is added, it gets displayed on the home page, and in the portfolio section (obviously).
what i want to be able to do is add some portfolio items 'without' them showing up on the homepage, or in the portfolio section by default.
what i intended to do is have a link on each existing 'public' portfolio item saying something like 'click here to see my other work' or whatever, which takes them to a quick login/disclaimer page which they have to action before getting access to the private items.
i'm a newbie when it comes to the code required to do this - can anyone help me out here?
    thanks in advance
    Jas
