My Club uses DiCentra software (used by many clubs) to run our competitions.

I need to generate a filename which consists of the entrants name (which includes spaces) concatenated with a ‘_’ concatenated with Title to create a filename suitable for DiCentra.

1/ Is there a way to include the user name?
2/ Can I stop EW substituting underscores for spaces in the name and title?

    Any suggestions?

Right now, the only way to add the user name would be to set up a custom field. It would not be hugely difficult for me to make it available without that, but most clubs I know of do their best to make sure the images are anonymous, so I never thought to include it as an option.

But even if I could eventually do that, it wouldn’t solve your problem with spaces. I really don’t want to allow spaces in filenames, because it makes coding for unix/linux systems more complicated, and introduces more security risks. To do it properly would take far more time than I have available.

Instead, I’d suggest setting up a script ( or a spreadsheet that generates renaming commands in one of its columns ) to run on the machine you download to. It should not be hard to do if you include the user id as part of the filename.

    Thanks Josie,

I thought that would be the case but worth asking.
