I’m just getting started on Pods tonight. I’m working on a site for our volunteer fire department and I’m trying to convert the functionality of a program I wrote 15 years ago to maintain the membership info and display it on the web site.

I’ve set up a CPT for Members. I’ve set up a hierarchical taxonomy for the company the members are assigned to.

One of the field in the Member CPT is Position. I would like the entry to be a pulldown menu with the choices of Chief, Asst. Chief, Capt., Lt., Member, and Probationary.

I’ve watched a couple videos, read the doc, and looked in the support forum, but it’s not clear to me how this is done.

You could create a Relationship field with the choice being Simple Custom Defined List. When you select that option, you will get an additional text box display for “Custom Defined Options”. In that box, you would type:

    Chief
    Asst. Chief
    Capt.
    Lt.
    Member
    Probationary

By default, Relationship fields are Single Select, Drop-Down, so once you enter the above you can just ‘save’ the field. That’s all you need 😉 If you did want a different format for that field, select the Additional Options tab and change the format for your ‘position’ selection.
