Creating a database

I am brand new to Word Press and not at all technically inclined. I am trying to create a site where I can put collected information into a database that people can access by name. I’ve tried to upload two database software systems and I am not having any luck tying it to my entries. I am trying to create a dog health database where owners can add their own information and search for information on other dogs by inputting a name or seeing all dogs entered. There is not a current database to pull from. We’re going to be creating it as we go. I am a total novice and need a crash course in how to put this together. Any advice on software to use and how to tie entries into a database would be most appreciated!
