# Creating a customisable gallery

 * Hi, I have been researching ways to implement a CMS gallery with thumbnails and
   the current image selected displayed on the same page, is this possible with 
   the nextgen plugin? I don’t want it to open in a lightbox, but instead above 
   or at the side of the thumbnails, like [this](http://adambarnes.net/?gallery=fashion-lifestyle-on-location-2)
   but I don’t need the carousel effect. I would be grateful if someone could point
   me in the right direction of a plugin, or template, or both.

 * I had this very same idea, and found that the Author of the NextGen Gallery provided
   a very useful sample [here](http://nextgen-gallery.com/templates/galleryview/)
   of building your own custom view for the gallery. I was able to build a few small
   plugins which implement some widely used jQuery Gallery plugins to achieve this,
   so you can control the look and feel, as well as not implementing a lightbox 
   if you wish.
 * You can basically create your own small plugin, install it and activate it along
   side the NextGen Gallery plugin. The link above should get you started though.
