i wonder how could create a Field that lets you select a tag from a tag list. End even add a tag to that if this isn’t still created…
I try to explain what i pretend:
I am creating a site for a museum, in the Content Type “Art Piece” which i created using CCTM plugin, i need a field that is “Technique”, in which user can select a technique and even, if he doesn’t find it (because still nobody added a “acrylic on canvas” for instance), i want him to be able to add it to that taxonomy.
The user will be only the staff.
You can define a custom database query for all dropdown or multi-select fields — this would display all available tags or terms etc. Adding a new tag on the fly, however, is not something currently supported.
I began that site project on Drupal and was able to do that, but didn’t manage to got on the top of the Drupal learning curve… and so i’m trying to do it from scratch on WP.
Your plugin is awsome, thanks!
I’ll try to do that.
It sounds like maybe you should just leverage WP’s tags or categories for this… it’s sometimes a gray area when it comes to what should be a custom field and what should be a taxonomy. WP’s tags/categories already have this functionality, so why not leverage it? Just edit your post-type definition to include tags or categories (or both). If you need to create a custom taxonomy for this, I recommend the Simple Taxonomy plugin — the CCTM will let you select custom taxonomies for inclusion on any post-type definition.
Thanks againt, Fireproofsocks!
i take note on this.
Since i’m getting closer to the projecte deadline i’ll work on that details later. So, i reply as soon as i work again with taht tag-custom field issue.
