Sorry, I can’t give a URL: I’m working on a local set-up (Local by Flywheel)
    Theme: Vantage 1.14.4
    Meta Slider version: 3.15.3
    WordPress version: 5.3.2
I created a slideshow (“Home Slideshow”) and set it to display on my English-language home page – works great.
I duplicated the slideshow, changed the captions etc, renamed it “Hejm-bildaro” and set it to display on my Esperanto home page (using the Page Slide control in the RH column).
Problem: Both pages now display the original “Home Slideshow”. The only way I can switch to “Hejm-bildaro” is via Appearance > Customize > Theme settings > Home, but then both pages display “Hejm-bildaro”.
I haven’t tried with other themes, but it’s optimized for Vantage, so that shouldn’t be the issue.
It works when I disable all other plugins: Haven’t Tried

  • Hi,

Please can you double check and make sure you are using the correct shortcode/slider for each page?

Also, try clearing your cache to make sure you are not viewing a cached version of the page.

    Regards,
    Bryle

    Hi,

I’ll mark this as resolved since we didn’t hear back but feel free to reply if needed.

Hi. No, unfortunately it’s not resolved. I have since uploaded the site to a temporary location on our server and the problem is still there. So, no point clearing the cache now, right?

    • Home page (Esperanto): http://aea.esperanto.org.au/wordpress5/eo/hejmo/
    Metaslider: “Home slideshow”
    • Home page (English): http://aea.esperanto.org.au/wordpress5/
Metaslider: set on backend as “Hejma bildaro” (captions in Esperanto) but displays “Home slideshow” (captions in English)

I didn’t use any shortcode. I’m not editing my theme, I’m just creating the sliders, then adding them to the pages using the Page Slider control in the right-hand column on the backend (see http://aea.esperanto.org.au/ftp-uploads/WP-screenshot-AEA.png for a screenshot).

Interestingly, before I set the slider for the Esperanto home page to “Hejma bildaro”, the Display Page Slider drop-down showed “None”, even though it was already showing the “Home slideshow” slider.

(BTW, ignore any broken links/images in the site; they should work again once this version replaces the current live site at http://aea.esperanto.org.au/.)

    Hi,

That “Page Slider” module is something Vantage-specific and we don’t have any control over how it works. You will have to contact them regarding making that work with different languages.

However, my guess is that Vantage sets that as a page meta data and whatever plugin you are using to change the language isn’t picking up on the meta data differences.

In contrast, if you put the shortcode in the actual body of the content everything works correctly, right?

I’d start by contacting Vantage (they are quite responsive there), then probably contact the translation plugin team.

Let me know if you have any more questions.
