• Hi there,

Surely a recurrent problem but cannot find exactly an answer!

I trying to transfer the WordPress directories using ftp to my server.
Server directories were create by ISPCONFIG.

My web directories is for instance /var/www/clients/client1/web1

I want to place inside web1 a wordpress dir with all the files.

I suppose it’s the best way to manage different web sites on my server (I’ll create a wordpress dir in each “…/clientX/webX” directory.

The problem is I can’t create the directories for WP inside the web1 dir.
    permissions denied error.

OK, I understand it’s a permission problem 😉 but can’t see what to change.
I connect with a user with groups “client1, client2, …” and part of groups sshuser (web1,web2,…).
Rights on the web1 dir is rwxr-xr-x and owner is root.
This is the default create by ISPCONFIG.

I red that I can may be transfer to my home directory and then using SSH with “su” and transfer the files to the web1 dir !

Is it the only and right solution?!?

That seems so complicated to me!!

Also, if I try to change the rights with recursive I have a “not allowed”

Anyone with a CLEAR explanation or step by step to achieve the WP install?
(I already follow the step in the guide … but as I say … stuck with the ftp transfer 😉 ))

    THANKS a LOT !!!

    Pierre
