create widget in plugin

    hi.how can i create a widget in a plugin.is it like creating widget in a theme?
    i need a brief example if possible.

    There’s no difference between doing it in a theme and a plugin.

    we need to extend wp_widget class in the class-wp-widget.php file.and register it with widget_init action hook in function.php file.how can we do theses via plugin files?
