Create Widget Area in ‘Latest Post’ Setting

    I am using the “latest post” for my homepage settings, but it doesn’t allow for a ‘Top’ widget area (the area over the main column on the left).

    I want to place an ad in that widget area.

    Any CSS advice? Or PHP?
