# Create multiple sites using same database

 * Hi, as far as I can tell this is not a duplicate question (though not totally
   sure)…
 * I would like to have one database holding all wordpress content, and multiple
   sites within different sub-directories (mysite.com/site1, mysite.com/site2, etc).
 * Each sub-directory (site) would only display specific categories. So let’s say
   category 1 posts/pages would display at mysite.com/site1 and category 2 posts/
   pages would display at mysite.com/site2.
 * But all content would be administered, edited, uploaded, etc to the one database.
 * It’s completely possible that I’ve overcomplicated a simple thing, let me know
   if i have! And if i’m on the right track, then what’s the best way to go about
   doing this? Is it through Multisite? It seems it would work with multisite, and
   instead of creating the categories to filter content to the appropriate site 
   you would just create whole new sites, all administered through one interface.

 * This is precisely what [Multisite](https://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network)
   was made for Joel, create as many sub-sites as you need with whichever categories
   you require and add posts to the necessary sub-sites, all via a single WordPress
   admin area, with all data stored in a single database.

   looking for. I’ll go through the process and see how it goes…
