Support » Plugin: My Calendar » create facebook events

  • Hi Joe, First a word or two in thanks. I’m totally blind and love using your plugins. As you know web accessibility can sometimes be a pain in the rear, and your work has made my work easier and I thank you for that. My most recent CD is a collection of pop/country covers that my wife wanted me to record, which I did and sell at my shows. I know you’re a classical player, but if you have the interest I’d be more than happy to send you a link to download a free copy as my way to say thank you for your efforts.

I don’t know if it would even be possible, but I’m wondering … How difficult would it be to have My Calendar Pro create a new facebook event when publishing a new event to My Calendar?

    Thank you!

I can’t answer My Calendar Pro related questions in this forum; I can only answer questions related to My Calendar. The support provided in the official WordPress forums is limited to applications that are hosted by the official WordPress plugin repository.

That said, since neither My Calendar nor My Calendar Pro support this feature (and won’t), I feel that I can safely answer that question, regardless.

It would be very, very difficult. There are several reasons, but the first among them is that access to the Facebook Events API is restricted. I’d need to go through an App review process with Facebook to create this. This means I’d have to develop the app in accordance with their requirements, test it thoroughly, and then have them review it – with no guarantee they would actually allow it to be used. That’s far more work than I can undertake as a single-person company, so it simply won’t be happening.

The Events Calendar by Modern Tribe (a much, much larger company than I am) did undertake this process – and their app was indeed denied. Knowing that, I’m extremely reluctant to invest any time in supporting any part of the Facebook API.
