• Hello,

Is it possible to create custom taxonomies? Let’s say I have three pages that I want to link in a hierarchy with breadcrumbs. The first page – Costa Rica Wedding Venues – has two options: 1. Luxury Venues, and 2. Unique Venues. Clicking on Luxury Venues takes visitors to a page that lists luxury venues in a grid with a title and excerpt. This is the second page. Clicking on any of these items take you to the third page, to the page that has details about that specific luxury wedding venue in Costa Rica.

What I’d like to do is have breadcrumbs pages 2 and and on all the pages for individual posts on one venue. The bread crumb on page 2 (Luxury Venues) would link back to Page 1: Costa Rica Wedding Venues. Each post in the category Luxury Venues would link back to both: 1.Luxury Venues, and 2. Costa Rica Wedding Venues. The second bread crumb is not essential. The first option is.

Can this be done using your bread crumbs plugin? If so, could you please provide a link on how or please explain how in your response?

Thank you and have a good day!

There are a few ways you can organize your content to achieve this structure. If you are using a hierarchical taxonomy type, with Luxury Venues and Unique Venues being children “terms” to the Costa Rica Wedding Venues term, and set the hierarchy for the post type that you use for venues to that taxonomy (in the Breadcrumb NavXT settings), then Breadcrumb NavXT will pick up on this structure. However, if you are not using term/taxonomy archives and instead want to link to a page (instance of the page post type), then you’re going to need a little extra code to map the term to the appropriate page (see this article on how to do this: https://mtekk.us/archives/guides/link-to-a-page-rather-than-the-category-archive-in-a-breadcrumb/).
