Set as Individual in settings, create button requires input of a charity.

    Broken with current functionality.

    Hey @reelism,

Thanks so much for your post. We can help.

The Donate button by GoFundMe allows charities and individuals to collect donations benefitting registered nonprofit organizations. We have verified that the button is working as expected.

If you’re looking to fundraise for a personal cause (meaning you’d like the funds you raise to go to an individual rather than a registered charity), we recommend setting up a GoFundMe campaign and sharing the link on your website. Set up is fast and easy: go to http://www.gofundme.com and click “Start a GoFundMe.”

If you have any additional questions, please let us know. We’re standing by ready to help.

    Ok, how?

I have set up a campaign.

The plugin has only 3 sections, one is settings within which I had to specify charity OR individual (as per campaign setup), before I can create a button.

Yet, as I’ve already said, the button configuration ONLY shows charity as an option.
    – If this is by design, then why does an “individual” setting exist?
    – Why are you not emulating the setup of a campaign as per GFM site?
    – Why am I having to ask these things?

None of this makes sense, esp given how simple this plugin functions are.

    Hey @reelism,

This version of our Donate Button is designed to allow individuals and charities to collect donations benefitting a registered nonprofit, and doesn’t support donations to personal causes right now. We ask whether the creator is an “Individual” or a “Charity” so we can help provide support – it isn’t a setting of the Donate Button. The goal of the Donate Button is to make it easy to collect donations benefitting any nonprofit via a WordPress site, so users always have to select a benefitting charity to use this version of the Donate Button. It’s a new charity fundraising feature, distinct from setting up a GoFundMe campaign.

It sounds like you may want to fundraise for a personal cause. If that’s the case, the best way to do that is by setting up a campaign on GoFundMe (which it sounds like you’ve done) and use the link to direct supporters to donate.

Please let me know if that helps, and if you have any other questions.

It’s truly bizarre that this is the 3rd msg I’ve sent and you still don’t see how wrong your thinking on this is.

We ask whether the creator is an “Individual” or a “Charity” so we can help provide support

IF YOUR PLUGIN DOESN’T WORK FOR INDIVIDUALS, what support are you talking about?
Do you count these msgs as support – wherein I’m earnestly trying to highlight your nonsensical thinking?

    SOLUTION:
ON the plugin description detail CLEARLY that this plugin is NOT for individuals. Take out useless and NON FUNCTIONAL “individual” option in settings.

    DONE.

I’ll review my rating if this is done.
