Create a wordpress website without a domain, but using hosting from other domain

  • I want to start creating a new website using WordPress. I currently have a blog type website which we are just starting but I would like to try and create a website for my other company.

I don’t want to buy a domain yet as it will take me a while to get all the information and layout of the website ready, which is why I ask the following: Is it possible to create a wordpress website, actually see it working for real on the internet without linking it to a domain? I own the domain and hosting for another website, could I use that hosting account to create a new website just for creating purposes, and then once the website is finished transfer it into the new domain?

I would appreciate any help!! Thanks in advance!!

  • Just setup your new WP site in a subfolder of your existing website.

    E.g. yourexistingsite.com/newwp/

You can then create all the content, get the design right then when it comes time to move, export the DB and move the wp-content folder.
