Support » Fixing WordPress » Create a REMOVE SIDEBAR method … PLease

  • My site has 100+ pages and growing. Last week, during a plugin update, something crashed. After a week, I am getting it back, but the Theme will now no longer load. The Theme (Phlox) had a setting to turn off sidebars. Now, No theme that I load picks up settings and the sidebar is there, on every page.

What a pain in the behind. It seems that many people have problems with sidebar issues. Sure, I found fixes, but change themes and what do you get. Or reload the theme and lose the changes you made. Even if some Theme creator makes a way of doing it, it does not carry over.

This is BASIC TO WP. It SHOULD be built into the framework so that it is Theme independent. If not, we need a good PLUGIN. I saw one plugin that can create multiple side bars and then have those replace the default on assigned pages. But, it didn’t allow you to remove the original.

Of course, that is coming from someone who knows nothing about WP Coding.

So, for now, how about a good plugin?

I’m pretty new to WP, so you veterans can come up with a good list of desired features. For me, on this specific site, I would like to turn off side bars EASILY on all but one page, not the home page and have the remaining content width adjust properly.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]
