create a photo grid

Hi,
I’m interested in creating a layout in a post that would have a grid of photos – with no spaces between the images. Say for example a 4×4 grid of thumbnails in a perfect rectangle.
I haven’t been able to make it work, so any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks.
