• I often create pages based off of existing ones. While I could create a template, sometimes it is just easier to copy an existing page and change a few lines. It would be awesome if there were an option when looking at the dashboard listing of pages to “duplicate” a page. I suppose it would be nice if it just duplicated it as a draft, since there would probably be now reason to have two identical pages.

This could also be more useful for amateur bloggers who may not be able to create their own templates.

  • Have you tried http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/duplicate-post/ … it sounds like it has Clone and New Draft for your choice.

    Thanks for the tip.

    Apparently I can’t spell create.

I figured there was probably a plugin, but I think this is a feature that could also easily be added to the actual wordpress installation and would be a useful feature, especially for amateur end users.

I have no problem working with plugins, creating templates, but some of the people who do the day-to-day updates and posts on sites I help with are not very savvy with code and being able to simply duplicate a page and change the relevant parts would help them out.

the “duplicate” button has always been on all my wordpress blogs, except for just one that I am working on now… anyone know why it would not be on my site… I have deactivated all plugins and still could not get it to work…

I will try the plugin above… but that really confuses me… because it is a standard wordpress feature. Isn’t it?

    Nope.

    It’s standard on WordPress.com

    It’s not on .org installs.
