Title: Crayon Post Database Issues Last modified: May 18, 2023 --- # Crayon Post Database Issues * [briangladman](https://wordpress.org/support/users/briangladman/) * (@briangladman) * [3 years ago](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/crayon-post-database-issues/) * First of all, my thanks to you for being willing and able to take on support for this syntax highlighter, which I very much appreciate. * But since moving to your version it seems that the internal database of Crayon posts has errors in it with some erroneous records and many comments that include Python that are not being included. In consequence, when I edit some comments the crayon highlighting is being stripped out (I am guessing those not in the database?). * Strangely I can edit my own new comments but not new comments made by other people( who often ask me to update their Python code). * I have used the ‘refresh’ button but the problem is still present. I am hence wondering whether this is an issue in building or maintaining the internal database? Is there a way of regenerating the database form scratch? * Any advice you can offer would be much appreciated. (2) When I edit my own posts that include code (I.e. posts by BRG) the editing works fine and the syntax highlighting is maintained. (3) But when I am asked to edit a post by someone else, all the syntax highlighting is stripped out and the code appears as plain text. * This appears to be related to the internal database of crayon posts that is maintained by the highlighter. It looks like the plugin works only for posts mentioned in that internal database. The refresh button should work. I don’t know maybe there is some bug inside it. I will try to find out. * I did some research. The plugin refreshes the internal database during activation. I think you can try to deactivate the plugin and then activate it again immediately. Do you use any external editors for editing comments? Maybe it shrinks some tags. I think the code should be at least inside HTML pre tags in the output page. But in the comment I see only ordinary paragraphs.
