• Hi,
Just setup WP this week, and had it working great. Spent most of Thur.afternoon, and evening, and early Fri. morning, setting up plugins one by one…then trying them out to make sure they worked.
Now, all of a sudden, WP is dead. The last thing I was doing was installing wp2pdf, and had gone thru all the setup screens and saved.
Exited, then rebooted my computer for something else, and low and behold, no matter what file I try to browser access, I get a 500 error. There is nothing coming up such as trying to simply view my blog.
Checked my site error logs, and then saw these…
[Thu Sep 30 02:56:34 2004] [error] [client 66.249.68.9] File does not exist: /home2/surviva/public_html/wordpress/atom.xml
[Thu Sep 30 02:55:13 2004] [error] [client 66.249.68.9] File does not exist: /home2/surviva/public_html/wordpress/index.rdf
(these seem to be from rss robots from various places already checking the blog out)
[Thu Sep 30 02:51:59 2004] [error] PHP Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required ‘ABSPATHwp-includes/wp-db.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home2/surviva/public_html/wordpress/wp-settings.php on line 30
[Thu Sep 30 02:51:59 2004] [error] PHP Warning: main(ABSPATHwp-includes/wp-db.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home2/surviva/public_html/wordpress/wp-settings.php on line 30
(these just look b-a-d. Line 30 looked fine to me)
I have recopied over all the root php files, as well as the wp-includes directory.
Still nothing…can anyone give me some hints on what I should to next?
Also, went into phpmyadmin and was able to get right into the mysql database and all the data seems to be there while browsing thru. Coule I have broken something in the database?
    Any help appreciated.

  • Remove your .htaccess file – there is an error in there I think.

Using WS-FTP, and not seeing .htaccess in any of the main files. I think what I may do is back up the files to my drive, save the customized plugins and reinstall the whole shebang from original archive…this is most frustrating…thanks anyway…

.htaccess is often a hidden file. You may have to change a setting in WS_FTP to see it.

Well, deleted the entire folder, everything except the mysql database, reinstalled from fresh download, and it is back to working again. However, neither my old css file, or the index.php wanna work…will have to print out the code and side-by-side it this weekend.
Never did find htaccess, even after going into my host control panel and looking at the folder protection settings…nothing was set for protection…
    Back to the grindstone.

WS_FTP does not by default display remote “hidden” files such as .htaccess. If this is the problem, edit your site description in WS_FTP:
    Edit / Startup
In Remote File Mask, add: -al
That should enable you to view *all* the files on the server.
