I am sorry this happened to you. We have been trying but cannot duplicate the same error on our end. You can help us troubleshoot the issue by providing more details.
What is the PHP version on your server?
Did that critical error email contain any more details? Did it say the error was because of the Simple Link Directory plugin? If so, please share the complete error message.

Hi Paul,
Thank you for the details. We checked the code but do not find any error generating from it. We checked both in PHP 7.x and 8.x. However, we rewrote the code just to be safe and released a new version. Can you please upgrade to the latest version and check there?
