Crashed my database

    I was using the wp-optimize tool to delete post revisions, and it ran for about 5 minutes, then BAM, down went my site, and the 20 other sites on my VPS. 🙁 All said ERROR ESTABLISHING CONNECTION TO DATABASE. MY host had to fix it. I hope there’s not more damage, haven’t checked yet.

    Maybe put a warning in the plugin to back up everything first, because it may corrupt the database.

    Great idea behind this plugin, hopefully as time goes on, they will fix more issues.

    I am sorry you have gone through the trouble. The readme information in the plugin clearly warns user about possible consequences and asks to backup. This warning also available in the plugin main screen. There is a possible reason for your site to go down. Some VPS provided uses firewall and the firewall catch any execution of SQL.

    Out of 2 million cases there are less than 3 incidents like this which was due to firewall rules. A mySQL native optimize command can’t corrupt a database @thehits
