 * I have several WordPress on my server, some mine, some of my clients.
    I have
   seen that in the Daily Process Log, they are returning
 * Top Process %CPU 120 /usr/bin/php /home/xxxxx/public_html/index.php
    Top Process%
   CPU 101 /usr/bin/php /home/xxxxx/public_html/index.php Top Process %CPU 88 /usr/
   bin/php /home/xxxxx/public_html/index.php Top Process %CPU 65 /usr/bin/php /home/
   xxxxx/public_html/index.php
 * I have asked them to deactivate all of their plugins, but the problem seem no
   to be there in the plugins.
 * Is is WordPress issue, is it server issue? If it is server issue, what should
   I change in the configuration?
 * A phpinfo you can find [here](http://www.newlady.ro/phpinfo.php).

 * Yes I am way over my CPU limit at 124% which just started mysteriously with no
   new plugins installed. I have tried both wp-super-cache & hypercache with db-
   cache-reloaded, to no affect. I have really wasted lots of time with no answers.

 * Anyone has any idea?
    I understand from this issues, that is not a server configuration,
   but a wordpress issue.

 * My Host just closed my account for CPU usage!
    i signed with justhost one month
   ago for a forex website (no trading)just information and education with post
   website, i already have 4 or 5 pages! after they suspended my account within
   few hours i got this email (As you probably aware, here at Just Host we proactively
   monitor all our servers to ensure that our clients websites are loading as fast
   as possible at all times. During this routine monitoring we have found that your
   account is utilizing an excessive amount of system resources, and we have been
   forced to suspend your site as per our terms and conditions ‘10% CPU/MEM/MySQL
   Policy’
 * For your reference, here is a copy of your usage report:
 * Top Process %CPU 45.0 /usr/bin/php /home/fastcas4/public_html/index.php
 * %MySQL 12.0
 * Just Host offer unlimited hosting space and unlimited bandwidth, but as per our
   terms we will suspend any website which exceeds our 10% CPU/MEM/MySQL policy.
   We hope that you understand our position in
    ensuring that we provide the best
   possible service. In order to continue to provide this high quality service,
   you will need to upgrade to a dedicated server, which will give you an abundance
   of additional resources and speed up your website.)
 * Now my question how this happen? this is new website

   ads and adsense with couple of amazon books! i am using wordpress and i was trying

   with those few pages! please can someone advise me on what to do? i did sign
   with inmotion for business account and i was told if this CPU is high then i

 * Hi,
 * I have a problem similar to this one. The situation is as follows:
    – brand new
   WordPress install with wordpress 2.9.1 – installed/activated a few plugins (
   2, 3 – no more ) – added a few posts, less than 20 – in meantime wordpress got
   updated and I updated the install to 2.9.2 – IMPORTANT: the site is on a new
   domain, therefore there was absolutely no traffic, but myself accessing the site–
   the conclusion is that somehow wordpress used all the server CPU and the account
   had to be suspended
 * also note, that the server logs stated the strange activity with the /wp-content/
   themes/index.php file, file which is EMPTY! – there was some strange recursion
   taking place, the script was recalling itself and this alone generated over 2
   Gb of traffic for the hosting account in a couple of days!
 * Is there any way to figure it out what the problem is?
 * Thanks in advance,
    Constantin TOVISI

 * All I can say is, me, too! I have two WP sites on this one server account, and
   they are constructed almost identically. One is experiencing the overload, and
   one is not.
 * Evidently there is no knowledgeable person on here who can help us!

 * SInce WordPress is a dynamic blogging platform, it is possible for one blog to
   use more CPU resources than another identical blog, especially when one blog
   has far more traffic than the other. As a dynamic blogging platform, WordPress
   generates the page each time it is viewed. Since it is not pulling the data from
   a cache, this requires some CPU resources to run the necessary database queries
   to display the posts. Though these queries use very little CPU on their own,
   add in a few plugins and a few thousand visitors every few minutes, and you may
   start to see some problems.

 * This is nuts. I see lots of threads throughout the internet with people complaining
   about the same thing but no solutions to be found anywhere. Like others, my cpu
   started to spike for no reason. I dropped all but a few essential plugins and
   I’m on 2.9.2 and no help. Changed from WP Supercache to W3 Total Cache and still
   nothing. My cpu goes between 5% to 12% when it needs to be at 1%. I only have
   about 800 pageviews a day.
 * Luckily, my host Lunarpages have been patient in helping me troubleshoot this
   problem but all they can tell me is index.php is using too much load which is
   basically useless. They have already shut me down once so I’m walking a tightrope.
 * My last resort is to reinstall the blog in another folder but no guarantees that
   will work.

 * Did you fix the problem? The same issue is affecting two of my blogs too!

 * No resolution yet. I have tried everything. Part of the problem is that I’m running
   two blogs on my host and the cpu report is a summary for all activity so it’s
   hard to isolate. If I bring it down to just one site running bare, it’s still
   at about 2-3% when they want it at 1%.
 * My last option is to install a new blog in another folder and move my content
   to the new blog to see if that helps. I don’t think it will as it is starting
   to look like wp is just cpu hungry. I only get 800 pageviews per day with about
   500 visitors. I hate to see what would happen it it gets more popular.

 * Well it seems there are very few solutions to these high cpu problems so I wrote
   [my own tutorial](http://blog.patyuen.com/lessons/technology/how-to-tame-wordpress-cpu-usage/)
   on how to tame cpu usage. Hopefully, it’ll help someone.
