Support » Plugin: Custom Post Type UI » CPT and Taxonomy Not Showing in Menu or Bulk Edit

Hello! I’ve done a million of these, so I don’t know what the issue is here. I have WordPress 5.0.2, the latest CPT UI, barely anything installed on the site.

I have one CPT called Books and two taxonomies called Series and Collections. When I go to the main Book admin display (Books > All Books) I see the column for Series, but there is no column for Collections, despite there being books with collections selected.

I also am trying to add this CPT and tax to the menu, but that option is not displaying for me, despite having “show in menu” selected for everything.

I read this: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/adding-custom-post-archive-to-menu/ and yes, I have all that stuff sorted out.

Any reason why this might occur? Thank you! 🙂

Since you have “Series” showing in the list view, I assume you know about the “Show admin column” setting for the taxonomies when editing, but just to confirm, have you set the setting to “true” for both of them?

Secondary, have you checked the “Screen Options” tab in the upper right to make sure that both are available for show, and both checked?

Beyond that, it’s hard for me to guess for sure, without seeing your settings for CPTUI. The Tools menu and the “Debug Info” tab should provide a way to email that information and other debug details. You can send that to support@pluginize.com and I’ll be able to access it.

Hi Michael! 🙂 Thanks for responding so quickly.

I resolved the Collections issue, it was the first thing you said. I checked for it like 10x, of course, but I guess I just didn’t *see it*. You know what I mean. lol

But the other part… all of them are set to show in the menu so I’m not sure what’s up. I’ll send you the info, thank you!

I forgot to tell you it would be re a site for Talia so if you see that stuff, that’s my client. 🙂

For that second part, are you referring to a frontend menu, as opposed to the admin menu area?

For that one, double check “show in nav menus” for all applicable items. That would allow you to choose individual posts/terms in your nav menu setup.

Hello! I do have show in nav menus checked for all applicable items. (Which is all of them). Still nothing shows up on the menus area. There is no caching involved either. Very strange!

Well, I feel silly. They weren’t checked in the “Screen Options” at the top of the menu page. I honestly didn’t know you *could* check that, I thought if it was set in the CPT UI settings, it was set to display by default. But good to know! 🙂

Thanks for your help. Happy Holidays!

Not sure the screen options part is something we could control, since last I knew, those were tied to a given user and their user meta. So we just bring it up when we can as an extra check for everyone, when needed.

Glad you got things worked out, and happy holidays back to you.
