I just tried switching to the Astra theme and was able to see the sidebar on the courses page. There is nothing in Sensei that prevents a sidebar from showing on the courses page.
I would recommend checking with your theme developer on this, as perhaps there is some conflict with another plugin on your site, or some theme setting that needs to be configured.

I create a page and it displays the sidebar no problem, but when I allocate the page to be the course archive page in sensei settings the sidebar is gone!
Does that mean anything?

Hi Donna, I thought to see the pages might help.
Here are two pages for you to see, both have sidebars allocated but the courses archive page does not display the sidebar.

Both pages have been set up the same – show right sidebar in page settings
login – testuser – passsword
