I am trying to create multilingual courses. I know, LifterLMS is not currently in compatible status with WPML, but I hope translations are achievable and multilingual support will be better in the future.

So far I managed to translate Courses and Lessons. Course translation only works for main content, not metadata like price plans and etc. Most importantly it is missing Course syllabus.

To have a syllabus for translated page, I open this page in editor. I open a translated version, not the original one as original one has syllabus for English lessons.

In Course Builder I create sections and add existing lessons. I see only translated versions in the list. After adding them, I see them in Course Builder, then I hit save and Exit.

On the front-end, I don’t see those lessons. Ater reopening Course Builder for that page, the lesson is not visible there either.

Then I go to Lessons in admin panel. I check translated lessons and see that it is attached to translated course, but Section field is empty. It appears that Course Builder in does not attach it correctly to a Section.

Any help in this regard would be highly appreciated!

I believe that, as I’ve noted in my other reply to you about WPML issues, that this is NOT an issue with LifterLMS but instead an issue with how WPML handles “duplication” of content for the purposes of translation.

As you’ve noted, we don’t claim to be compatible or support WPML so yes, you’re going to encounter issues here.

WPML has a strict schema of how plugins (like LifterLMS) have to define their custom content and the relationship of a section to a lesson (or vice versa) is part of our internal schema. I guess that’s not being properly carried over and translated in WPML which really makes a lot of sense since we don’t have any WPML schema definitions in LifterLMS.

As I noted in my other reply we don’t currently have WPML support on our immediate priorities list. This is a bummer for anyone who requires WPML compatibility but the reality of our capacity is that we simply have to say no to way more things than we’d like to. We can only do so much.

    My apologies,
