Coupon error message
-
Hi friends.
We have a problem with the coupon error messages.
The error messages are on the wrong place and not ishown in a block as they should be like described here:https://developer.woocommerce.com/2024/02/16/tutorial-overriding-notice-templates/
I remember it worked in earlier days, but no idea since when update this problem is on.
FYI:
I have tried with disabled all plugins, also with regular WP Theme, also on several sites.
You can see the problem in the screenshot. here:
Thank you in advance!

Hi there!
I tried adding the invalid coupon code, and I can see the error notice appearing at the top of the page, as shown in this screenshot: https://go.screenpal.com/watch/cZl12jnnFW5. From your screenshot, it seems the error message is appearing at the bottom of the coupon code field.
Just to verify, do you want the error message to appear like the one I shared in my screenshot? If yes, it seems to be working fine on my end. Could you please try clearing your browser cache and check if that resolves the issue?
Let me know how that goes.
Hi @shahzeenfarooq , thank you for your reply.
This is correct, i would like to have the notice exactly as it is shown in your screenshot and i can see it is working on your side.
As you suggested i cleaned up my browser and also tried several browsers and also other Wooconnerce installations what are not developed from my side.
Mmh, no idea but no chance. Everywhere the same, doesnt matter if i use Chrome or FF.
Could it be a only german langauge thing?
And for testing i made a completly new and clean installation here, but same thing. Any other idea?
Thank you in advance!
Hi @computermobil ,
Thanks for reaching out!
I’ve reviewed both of your sites, and it appears the coupon error message is displaying below the form field. I also tested this on a default WooCommerce setup, and it seems the error message is also shown below the coupon field there, which suggests this might be the default behavior.
Could you let us know if the coupon error message was previously displayed at the top? If so, do you recall when the change occurred? For example, did it happen after updating your theme, plugins, or making other changes to your site?
Please take a moment to check and let us know. We’d be happy to assist further!
Hi Jonayed.
Thank you for looking after me.
I think it has not been the default behavior in earlier Woocommerce Versions as you can see in your own Docs (Look into the image) you can find here:
https://developer.woocommerce.com/2024/02/16/tutorial-overriding-notice-templates/what is a very better solution. Most people dont realise the message below hte coupon field.
And as mentioned i tested with several themes and also on a fresh installation.
Anyway, i am sorry, i dont know what Woocommerce Update caused the change.
Thank you in advence!
Hi @computermobil,
Thank you for sharing the details and your findings!
The change you’re noticing regarding the coupon error being moved from a notice to inline in the coupon input was introduced in WooCommerce 9.4. I understand that this may not have been the behavior you’re used to, and I can see how it could be less noticeable for users.
There is an open issue on GitHub regarding this behavior, and you can share your feedback there: GitHub Issue #53534.
I appreciate you testing with different themes and fresh installations. If you need further assistance or have any other concerns, feel free to reach out!
