Title: Could not create directory when adding/updating plugins Last modified: August 21, 2016 --- # Could not create directory when adding/updating plugins * Resolved [KeithWhalen](https://wordpress.org/support/users/keithwhalen/) * (@keithwhalen) * [11 years, 10 months ago](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/could-not-create-directory-when-addingupdating-plugins/) * I am having an issue when I try to add/update plugins for a customer who has hosting set up with a company I have never used before. * I have FTP’d the site via FileZilla and the /public_html/wp-content/plugins folder is set to 755 as are all of its subdirectories, I have even tried the more open 777 but still no joy. When the site went live last week it was fine and I was updating plugins but now it’s not with no intervention or changes from me. * Is there anything else I should be checking? For me, it turned out to be an issue with low disk space.
