"Could not create directory" – error while upgrading

    Hello. Whenever I try to upgrade my plugins or the WP version I get Could not create directory.: /public_html at the step “unpacking upgrade”.

    How to solve this ?

    It’s a permissions issue. It’s quicker and less painless to got through a FTP client and upload the files.

    With plug-ins remember to deactivate first, otherwise you might end up with corrupt files and/or uploads failures.

    I’ve seen this fault on several hosts and it can be for a multitude of reasons. Whatever you do don’t open a directory as 777 as that’s insecure.

    Yes, but I have a lot of plugins that need to be updated, so it would take less time using the automatic upgrade feature.
