• Hi,

I live on the border between France and Switzerland, and speak fluent French (understood on both sides). On the Woocommerce checkout page, the translation of the placeholder for the form field that takes address data is pretty bizarre – in 40 years of speaking French I’ve never heard or seen this one!

    It says
Numéro de voie et nom de la rue
for “Street number and name of the street”

No one I have ever met calls the street a “voie” – maybe this is a French Canadian thing? Around here (Switzerland, France, Belgium) the street is “rue” (and various other options for avenue or path or way, but never “voie”. The latter is a like an administrative term that only belongs in particular circumstances like “voie unique” for “one-way street”.

Where and how can I manually change this? My French-speaking clients will be deeply unimpressed if I deliver a site with this kind of thing on it.

I don’t want to download a plugin as I am used to coding and working with data files.

    Thanks,
    SP
    Switzerland
