# Correct mode for upload?

 * A simple question, I hope:
    **What is the correct mode for uploading files** (
   via ftp)? As I’ve understood, the php (and css) files should be uploaded in ascii
   mode – while image files should be uploaded in binary mode. I ask because the
   Auto feature in my ftp client (Transmit – Mac) does did job badly, and ascii/
   binary seems to be an important thing. Thanks, Kjetil Flekkoy

 * That’s correct. And the wrong mode while uploading can cause problems…

    Some details are easy to miss, but fortunately I’ve done this right.
 * If anyone knows an **ftp client for Mac** which handles this automagically, I’d
   be glad to know.
