Coraline Theme header size: Is there any way to Resize the default theme header?

Hello, I wish to display a header with a size of 989 x 300, but the default Coraline header only wants to display headers of 990 x 100 in size. Is there any way to increase the size so I can upload my new header?

    My blog is at http://www.heartscontentofamama.com

I am using a text widget and tweaked the positioning a bit. Works on firefox and safari but not in chrome and most bloggers used chrome. I also checked my website using my ipod, the header is not in place when I viewed it and maybe other mobile viewers are experiencing the same problem.

I hope somebody can help me.
