[resolved] Coraline: how prevent secondary menu items from showing up in primary menu? (4 posts)

I really want to use Coraline for this my very first wordpress site, but I have a crucial menu-related problem..

I need a secondary menu (containing pages not important enough for main menu, and not fitting in the sub-page structure), and created a custom menu which I put in a sidebar widget area.

The problem is that these pages also show up in the main navigation
(see my site at http://sundaarbetsplatser.se/ . I accidentally found out a way to prevent that: saving them as drafts instead of publishing them.
I have no idea why this works, and it does not feel like a very reliable solution- first it worked, then it didnĀ“t, now it works again... Is there a better way?

I'm a complete wp-newbie with no previous knowledge of php- please bear that in mind if you try to help me out :-)!

    Many, many thanks

I'd suggest using a Custom Menu for your main navigation, and include only the pages or links you want to appear there. See http://codex.wordpress.org/Appearance_Menus_Screen#Create_a_Menu for more information.

Of course!! I now feel at once a little bit stupid and very happy :-)

I guess I thought myself into a corner because it said that Coraline only supported one menu. Which seems to mean one menu in the menu field, plus lots and lots of them in the widget fields... I have a lot to learn...

Thank you so much for saving my day with your time :-)!

You're welcome. Menus are the awesomest feature. :)
