We understand that cloning your template page isn’t working as expected.
Often, we see problems occur in combination with another plugin or theme. The fastest way to rule out any conflict, is to deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme like Twenty Twenty.
Please test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin. This plugin has a troubleshooting mode, which does not affect normal visitors to your site.

With a default WP theme (such as TwentyTwenty) and only the Yoast Duplicate Post plugin v4.4 enabled, does the clone function then work as expected?
Yikes, that is a pretty intensive debug scenario.
It would be great if the error generated as a result of YDP not working was a touch more specific. If it fails, perhaps capture why in a touch more detail?

Would it be possible for you to provide more information about this specific template page (and how it is created) and how we can try and recreate it from our end?
We would expect that with a default setup with a default WP theme (such as TwentyTwenty) and only the Yoast Duplicate Post plugin enabled, you’d be able to clone or duplicate standard WordPress posts or pages without issue, but we’d need to learn more about if there’s an issue specifically with the template page or if it’s a conflict with another plugin or theme on your current setup.
