Copy an entire blog

    I have been running a blog under a folder named “blog” and would now like to move it to the root of that domain. Can I just FTP the files from one folder to the root?

    Not exactly.

    Take a look at the Codex on Giving WordPress its Own Directory — although you’re kind of doing the reverse.

    You *might* want to leave the WP files in a folder but also move the home page to the root of the domain.

    Biggest tip: back up not only your WP files but also your database first. Stuff happens; just do it. 🙂

    Actually… have a glance at Moving_WordPress as another option for moving the blog from one place to another on the same server.
